fit_rotation_broadened_line

tayph.fit_rotation_broadened_line(RV, CCF, degree=1, startparams=[], fixparams=[])[source] [edit on github]

This fits a rotation broadened profile following Gray (2005), with a polynomial for the continuum. The line profile is fit by a Voigt with a sigma (to approximate some level of turbulent broadening and spectral resolution) and gamma, with the analytical profile derived by Gray on page 465 of the 2005 edition.

Returns a list of best fit values for, respectively: A, line amplitude, vsys, systemic / centroid velocity (km/s, or same as RV-axis), vsini, projected stellar equatorial rotation velocity (km/s, or same as RV-axis), E, the linear limb darkening coefficient, sigma, the Gaussian sigma-width of the unbroadened line profile, gamma, the Lorenzian width parameter, plus polynomial coefficients describing the continuum, starting with offset, 1st order, etc.
